MulberryInk
My love of art began very early on when I had to color as good as my big sister. It only grew from there. My grandmother was a self taught artist, painting landscapes, portraits and still life paintings. When I visited her I would spend hours looking at her paintings and listening to stories of her "plein air" days. I started sketching early on from drawing books that my mother had given me. She just kept on supplying me with paper. As I "graduated" to painting, supplies were somewhat limitless as my dad ran a paint store that carried art supplies. bliss. I have an education as a graphic designer where I was exposed to a little part of the fine art world amidst my advertising classes. After years of freelancing, drawing and painting in my spare time, I decided that painting was it for me. You can find more stuff on cafepress.com/mulberryink.

I taught Physical Education & coached a variety of sports for 30 years. I enjoyed my career and have wonderful memories of students and athletes. I know I had a positive affect on their lives. I retired in 2004 and took a paint brush in hand and here I am. I create "Island Dreams" on various types of fabrics. My frames are custom cut, mostly from wine boxes. I use acrylic paints and sometimes enamel and latex paints as well. I also paint on old vinyl albums and even make clocks out of them. There is no limit to the creativeness!!

My mom's cookbooks had really great page dividers which worked wonderfully for crayons when I was about 4 years old. Thankfully, she was okay with that. Tiny Chatty Brother and Liddle Kiddles were my first models as playtime would most likely include dolls and some kind of art activities. I am now a professional face painter for hire, which tends to be somewhat seasonal...so love to create non-ephemerae or "longer-lasting" art when time allows and opportunities arise. ~ Karen Haines
